Story

By the light of the Harvest Moon some may dance, some howl and some swoon but we toil to create and harvest our fate and bring you our latest wines.

Forged by friendships and crafted by passionate friends, Harvest Moon is quintessentially Victorian. Our varietals have been hand-picked from the regions in which they thrive, as have our growers.

Inspired in the mid 70’s by Neil Young's debut album “Harvest” and the brilliant song “Old Man”, (which btw 40 years later I now am!) I found a soulful companion. Then in the mid 80’s Neil released a haunting and engaging song “Harvest Moon”. I was forever connected. What I didn’t know until recent years, was that "Harvest Moon” pays homage to the full, bright moon that occurs closest to the start of autumn in the northern hemisphere. In rural communities, this moon once provided a welcome extension of daylight allowing farmers to harvest their crops well into the night.

So, I decided to have a crack at creating a range of wines that are essentially made to enjoy. To take them for what they are and not get too caught up with the process; no fuss, no jargon. These wines are made to be easy drinking and hopefully overdeliver on price. They’re no pushover though. The story behind them has been cellaring for decades. I have always just tried to serve the interests of the everyday punter/consumer. It's about giving a great product at a fair price and not complicating the message. You don’t achieve this without developing and fostering strong long-term relationships and industry bonds. It’s these relationships and the simple love of enjoying wine with your favourite people that epitomises Harvest Moon.
